So, you may be asking, “Why do I need another food related blog!?” Well to be honest this blog is for me to keep track of my food adventures, thoughts, trials and errors. I love all aspects of food, eating, cooking, food culture, even food shopping! However, I have found that I need to record these experiences and adventures and decided what better place than on the internet!
Food is just a hobby of mine. I am currently a PhD student in Boston, MA and live on the other side of the river in Cambridge. I am a perpetual student as the PhD will be my third post graduate degree. One day I will consider getting a ‘real job!’ I have just completed my PhD and though my formal education may be complete I am still a student of life. After spending 8 years in the Northeast we have moved to the South and now call Chapel Hill, NC home.
I am a first generation ABCD, American Born Confused Desi. My parents are both from Andhra Pradesh, India and have instilled in me a love of the country and it’s culture. Though I love eating Indian food, I have much to learn about this complex and interesting food culture. I am married to a wonderful man who shares all of my food adventures and misadventures. My husband, G, is from Trinidad and Tobago, an island nation in the Caribbean which has a large population of people of Indian descent, and has opened my eyes to some of the delicious foods of the Indian diaspora.
On a side note, all of the pictures posted here will be ones which G or I have taken. The banner photo is from the Mercado de la Merced in Mexico City.
I hope you find my adventures in food and food culture interesting! I look forward to your comments and to learn from the breadth and depth of knowledge out there!
Keep doing the food work. I mean the good work.
